Mead Batch #6 Tasting/Reading
November 11, 2024
Fermenting, Mead
Goddamn, goddamn… this batch is impressing me!!!
So I mentioned that there is two batches in my last post. I finally came up with a name for them – Persephone’s Golden Pom Cyster and Hade’s Crimson Pom Cyster (with pom juice). Both Greek deities have associations with pomegranate, and I decided to go with their colorings to create the names of both meads.
For both batches, the starting SG (SG == Specific Gravity, a measurement used in brewing/winemaking to indicate density of a liquid relative to water – measures sugar/alcohol content) is 1.144; currently, Persephone’s Golden stands at 1.024 (15.55% abv/76 Delle Units) whereas Hade’s Crimson is at 1.020 (16.02% abv/77 Delle Units). As I write this, I have finished all of the tasting sample of Persephone’s Golden, and am working on finishing Hade’s Crimson. Damn, this is strong…!!! Hade’s Crimson is already labeled Dangerously Delicious; with time, I’ve no doubt both will be Goddamn Dangerously Delicious! I took a video of the tasting, sorry not sorry I didn’t share any with you – come visit me if you wanna drink as Vikings did!
