Biohacking, Drywall and Life…

Biohacking, Drywall and Life…

Biohacking

For the third time, I am doing this. Last time was about 5 years ago and it produced wonderful results.

Basically, I’ve had some life issues with my energy levels, not waking up refreshed regardless of how many hours I sleep, needing to nap during the day… I used to drink a lot of coffee and when needed, red bull. Also, since I broke my leg, my mind has been in a major fog (documented side effect of gabapentin) and yeah, somewhat depressed. Depressed, more so in knowing I have a major physical limitation, and the caution I must take every time I take a step. I’m still not 100% recovered, but I’m doing pretty damn well considering the extensive damage to my leg. I survived walking San Francisco’s hills and steps back in late December 2024 with Amy, and I didn’t have any significant pain in my leg or need to rest. I still have a limp, although it seems to not be so apparent to those who don’t know what happened. When it gets really cold and rainy or snowing, I can feel the metal on my tibia, and my knee is more stiff. Not only that, I lost all my drive to do things, work on all these ideas and projects I have in mind, and I really didn’t write as often as I wanted to (poetry, songs, and a book I’ve been working on for ages). So, 3 weeks ago I decided it was time, ordered the nootropics I needed, and it arrived last week. Today is Day 5 (or 6 for those of you folks that don’t recognize 0 as the true beginning), and I have been HELLA PRODUCTIVE! I’ve woken up every morning refreshed and ready to attack the day. My focus and clarity has been getting more sharp, and I’m not so depressed anymore. This ain’t the solution to depression, yo – my issue is with myself and how I have not been able to do what I know I can. I still have limitations with my leg, but… it ain’t so bad, now that I’ve been more active and getting shit done. HELLA ON POINT! Speaking of getting shit done…

Drywall

Whoever installed the drywall here… SUCKS DONKEY BALLS! My landlord is an awesome person, and I’m lucky – he will pay for any materials I use to improve this place. So far I’ve fixed up and painted the bathroom, upgraded the kitchen with shelving and a built-in corner cabinet. All that, while utilizing a walking cane, too! Anyways, I finally started working on the walls, and man… I’ve used SO MUCH spackle to fix the holes, removed a lot of joint tape and replaced it, doing a better job… It’s been hella dirty, dusty work! I can only afford to buy a little bit at a time (2 tubs of spackle, or a gallon of paint and a gallon of primer here and there), its been almost a month now and I have all of above my garage door primed; most of 1 wall primed and painted (1 coat), the rest of that wall and 1/5 of another wall primed. I’ve replaced three electrical boxes, added extenders to two outlet boxes, removed a piece of sheet rock and installed the right size drywall and patched that so far. Hopefully sometimes in April, I’ll have all of the walls painted with two coats  and about 2-3′ of the ceiling right by all walls primed. Definitely not looking forward to when I start focusing on the ceiling…

Anyways, it’s been hella dusty and since I’ve had no guests over, I let it build up… ’til Monday. ENOUGH!!! I started deep cleaning, blew the floor, swept the floor, repeated, mopped, mopped again… and now this place is hella clean (well I still have to dust a couple things). If I ever find that guy who did the drywall here, I’m gonna beg him to never do drywall work again!

Life

There’s some new friends for me, too – and two know some ASL! Looking forward to expanding my circle of friends around here… even tho that circle has to include a 2 hour drive for certain folks.

Writings

I’m baaaaaaaccccckkkkkkkk!!!!!

I was able to write a lil poem couple months ago, but it was… hard work to write. I wrote a lil hot steamy story also, but only managed to finish 1 chapter. I have some notes for the upcoming chapters, but never could get myself to continue writing – I hope to resume this soon…

Poetry (and sometimes, song writing) has always been a big part of my life. It’s been an outlet for my emotions, and also it helps me better understand my emotions. So, a couple weeks ago, I started writing something, and it took a LOT of work and effort to finish it. I’m hella proud of that one, but it ain’t done. Oh no…

FINALLY!!!! I’m gonna make the ASL music video I’ve always wanted to!!! OK – the first one should have been “Think-Hearing and Geeky”, a parody of Weird Al’s “White and Nerdy” which is a parody of “Ridin” by Chamillionaire and Krayzie Bone. However my idea for that video requires other folks to be involved, and I’m supposed to be floating on my onewheel with Harley pulling, and… I don’t think either gonna happen anytime. Yay, leg? Anyways, this is definitely a fun project! Hired an ASL coach for 6.5 hours, got my ASL translation and classifiers down. Waiting on a guy from Fiverr to rap my lyrics to a certain Philly band’s instrumentals. Been practicing my signing and now, gotta figure out my footwork. Once I have the vocals, I can start video editing!!!

Oh, and I penned a poem recently, called “The Surge and The Tide“. Warning – this one is hella geeky and naughty! You’ve been warned!

Alright, I’m out to enjoy a glass of Orange Creamsicle, watch Queen Latifah kick ass in The Equalizer (DAMN, how can she be so old and look so DAMN SEXY! HIGHLY recommend this show!) and text folks into the evening…
